Pitchers Tim Peabody, who went four innings, and Mikey Wright combined to keep Kelowna at bay. Wright was credited with the win thanks to his five innings of work. Outfielder Wyler Smith had four stolen bases and key doubles from Ted Boeke, Hunter Mercado-Hood and Nathan Lukes spurred the offence. The pitchers overcame error issues in the infield and shook off a two-run homer from Tyler Croft late in the game.
Game stats were unavailable at end of game due to technical issues originating in Kelowna.
In the second game of the series, Quintin Torres-Costa, a lefty from the University of Hawaii will get the call on the mound, looking to ensure a series win for the HarbourCats. The game can be heard live through the team website, with video available on a pay-per-view package.
Alex Rogers of Nanaimo is tentatively slated to start the third game for the HarbourCats.
