June 7,2014(ISN) – BURNABY, BC – The BC Bears senior men’s provincial program will be holding a fundraiser luncheon in Burnaby on June 15th featuring World Cup winning coach Sir Graham Henry. Scheduled for 12:00pm at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex, all proceeds from the event will go towards the player-funded BC Bears tour of Argentina and Uruguay.
“We are very excited to welcome Sir Graham Henry back to BC,” said BC Rugby CEO Jim Dixon. “Graham’s technical and analytical understanding of rugby is unprecedented and we are lucky to have him assisting with BC Rugby. His frank and openness is a breath of fresh air. Having the opportunity to sit in a room with Graham and hear about the incredible All Blacks legacy is a real privilege.”

Henry will be leading a coaching session with the Bears in the morning, which will be followed by a presentation and Q & A with the guest speaker. $50 entry will include pizza and a drink voucher. Those in attendance will also have the chance to win raffle prizes including a BC Bears jersey signed by Rugby World Cup winning All Blacks coaches Sir Graham Henry and Wayne Smith. Raffle prizes also include a Chiefs Super 15 jersey signed by the squad and a signed Blues jersey.
Sir Graham Henry is a five-time iRB Coach of the Year and a 2011 Rugby World Cup champion. He was also the 2005 British and Irish Lions coach and a winner of five Tri Nations titles (three grand slams) during his decorated career with the New Zealand All Blacks. More recently, Henry has worked with Argentina and as a Technical Director with Super Rugby franchise The Blues. Henry and renowned coaching specialist Wayne Smith were in BC last November for the annual BC Rugby Coaching Clinic.
Bears on Tour
As part of the 125th Anniversary of the British Columbia Rugby Union, the BC Bears will be touring South America in July. The senior men’s provincial team will face Buenos Aires on July 16 and will then take on the Uruguayan National Team in Motevideo on July 19.
