June 11,2014(ISN) – Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Cougars have acquired 1998-born defenceman
Joel Lakusta (Sherwood Park, AB) and a 2016 sixth round WHL Bantam Draft selection
from the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for the CHL rights of 1994-born goaltender
Collin Olson.

Lakusta (6’1″, 151 pounds) was originally selected by the Saskatoon Blades in the
seventh round (149^th overall) in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. During the 2012-2013
season with the Sherwood Park Bantam Flyers, Lakusta scored five goals, 20 assists
and 43 penalty minutes in 27 games that season. Last season he played with the
Sherwood Park Midget AAA Kings and scored four goals, 10 assists and 14 penalty
minutes in 35 games.

“The addition of Joel Lakusta adds further depth to our impressive list of 1998-born
defenceman,” said Prince George Cougars Interim G.M./Head Scout and Director of
Player Personnel, Todd Harkins. “We’re pleased with Ty Edmonds, Brett Zarowny and
our overall depth in goal, and that allowed us to make this move to acquire Lakusta
and bring back a sixth round pick in 2016.”

2012-2013 season. He spent parts of last season with the Ohio State Buckeyes of the
NCAA and the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL. He was selected by the Carolina
Hurricanes in the sixth round (159^th Overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.
