June 10th, 2014, Parksville, B.C. ( – John Randle, who is synonymous with golf instruction on Vancouver Island has been given an opportunity to put his own personal brand of coaching into an academy he can call his own. Randle, who was one of the masterminds behind the GBC Golf Academy brand, as well as the Bear Mountain Golf Academy which he currently coaches out of; was approached by the ownership of the Morningstar Golf Club in Parksville about starting up the “Randle Golf Academy”.

“I’m really excited about the launch of my first “Randle Golf Academy”. After years of running the GBC Golf Academy and more recently the Bear Mountain Golf Academy, it’s very cool to finally have my “name on the door”. The owners and management of Morningstar reached out to me with this opportunity and have offered more support than I could have ever asked for.”

Morningstar, which already has an established practice and teaching facility will be a perfect fit for the new academy as it features grass tee decks, multiple short game areas, and an 18 hole championship golf course that fits any

skill level. The golf course has also hosted past PGA Tour Canada Q-School events, and is getting ready to host another one in the fall.

“The members of Morningstar and the community of Parksville have embraced the academy, instructional programs and learning technology, and are seeing some great improvement so they are very excited,” said Randle who is a former PGA Tour Canada member (formerly Canadian Tour).”

Another feature that attracted Randle was the indoor coaching centre which will be dubbed “The Performance Centre”. The indoor facility will give theacademy anStudio with Walzy 2 environment to coach year round, and under any weather circumstances. It will also create optimal conditions for athletes to best utilize a number of digital performance training tools such as Trackman, and the K-Vest 3D system.

Some of the instructional programs the “Randle Golf Academy” will offer include: private coaching, group classes, golf fitness classes, a junior development program including weekly sessions with both of the golf academy coaches and fitness trainer. John is also looking forward to offering his signature golf schools that include several days of instruction, rounds of golf, and fantastic accommodations at either the Beach Club or Tigh Na Mara resorts.

“The program I am most excited about features a full day of coaching. The day starts with a complete assessment of the swing, the short game, and the golfers fitness and movement patterns. The information is then compiled and used to put together a plan for the rest of the day and the coming weeks of practice. The golfer will then spend the rest of the day working with me on their golf skills and our trainer to understand any mobility and strength improvements needed. With our indoor facility, this program will be available 12 months a year! ”

Looking into the future, Randle hopes to expand his brand of academies into a few more locations. Once his Morningstar academy is established, he would like to open one in Victoria, and the lower main land; possibly in the Okanagan.

“Having my own academies will also allow me to hire and train several young professionals and help them build careers in the coaching business and I’m very excited about surrounding myself with keen young pros who want to be the next generation of great coaches.”
