June 14,2014(ISN) – BARCELONA – Noemie Thomas of Richmond, B.C., reached her third final this week
placing fifth in the women’s 100-m butterfly on Saturday to open the third and final
stop on the Mare Nostrum swimming circuit.


Jeanette Ottesen of Denmark continued to dominate the event clocking a meet record
57.20 seconds. Jemma Lowe of Britain was second in 58.61 and Svetlana Chimrova of
Russia was third in 58.72.

Thomas was in the hunt for the bronze and took fifth in 58.98 which was 0.01 seconds
faster than her time on Wednesday that earned her a silver medal at the second stop
in Canet-en-Rousillon, France.

Canada’s other finalist was Jeremy Bagshaw of Victoria who took eighth spot in his
second finals appearance this week.

Canada has fielded a six-member squad for the annual European tour which concludes
Saturday and Sunday in Barcelona. The other Canadians competing are: Keegan Zanatta
of Victoria, Stefan Milosevic and Luke Peddie of Vancouver and Arian Mainville of
