Both Highlanders’ reserve teams in action this weekend
VICTORIA – Both Victoria Highlanders FC reserve teams are in action this weekend in the Pacific Coast Soccer League. Peninsula Co-op Highlanders women’s reserve team will be looking for its second-straight win and a chance to climb the table. Meanwhile, the Highlanders’ men’s reserves are looking to get back in the win column and gain ground on the second place Penticton Pinnacles.
WOMEN’S RESERVES LOOK TO GAIN GROUND AGAINST TSS ACADEMY RED
The Co-op Highlanders women’s reserves last played three weeks ago in a 2-1 win over Fraser Valley Action on Sunday, June 8. Alynn Dagg and Brooklyn Mayoh supplied the offence for the Highlanders who got back in the win column after going winless in the previous two games.
Up next for the women’s reserves is TSS Academy Red on Saturday, June 28 at Hampton Park. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m. This will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams with the previous meeting ending in a 0-0 draw on Sunday, May 11. TSS Academy Red is coming off a 1-0 loss to Fraser Valley Action, and is winless on the season with a record of 0-5-1. The Highlanders will look improve their already impressive 5-1-2 record.
MEN’S RESERVES SQUARE OFF AGAINST CHILLIWACK FC IN FIRST MEETING OF SEASON
The Victoria Highlanders men’s reserves are coming off a 4-2 loss against Mid Isle Highlanders. The reserves came up short despite a strong showing. Bryce Marinus and Jyotish Khana carried the offence for VHFC. The men’s reserves remain within striking distance of top spot in the table.
Up next for the men’s reserves is Chilliwack FC on Sunday, June 29 at Tyndall Park. Kick-off is set for 12:30 p.m. The previous game between these two clubs on June 1 was postponed. Chilliwack FC is coming off a 3-0 loss to Mid Isle Highlanders and is currently on a two-game losing streak. CFC is led offensively by Zak Hansen and Ben Benten. The Highlanders will be looking to get back in the win column and climb the table with their 2-2-2 record.
