St-Thérèse, Quebec – Natalia Hawthorn and Lukas Jarron finished on the podium at the 2014 Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships this past weekend in St-Thérèse, Quebec.

Hawthorn, who just finished her first year at UBC and was fourth in the 1500m at the 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, earned a bronze medal in the women’s 1500m, finishing in a time of 4:29.79. She was just over two seconds behind the winner. She will now have to wait and see whether or not she will be added to the Canadian team for the 2014 IAAF World Junior Track and Field Championships. Earlier this year she met the standard to be eligible for event which will be held July 22-27 in Eugene, Oregon.

Hawthorn also competed in the women’s 3000m, finishing in seventh place with a time of 9:42.99.

Like Hawthorn, Jarron won a bronze medal in the men’s 800m, crossing the line in 1:53.99. The Ajax, ON native was part of UBC’s gold medal 4x800m relay team at the 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships back in May.

Jesse Hooton also competed at the championships, placing fifth in the men’s 5000m. The Vancouver native clocked a time of 15:07.57.
