July 8,2014(ISN) – LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western’s Regan Yee (South Hazelton, B.C.) came
home with a pair of medals from the 2014 Canadian Junior Track and Field
Championships as the Spartans middle distance runner won gold in the 2000m
steeplechase and bronze in the 3000m this past weekend in Ste-Therese, Que.


Yee, who will be entering her second year with the Spartans this fall, won the
steeplechase in 6:38.81 before finishing third in the 3000m in 9:29.68. Yee’s
performance in the steeplechase saw her reach the qualification standard for the
IAAF World Junior Championships.

Incoming Spartan Emma Li (Markham, Ont.) also earned a spot on the podium as she
grabbed bronze in pole vault with a clearance of 3.65m. Also competing in pole vault
was incoming Spartan Madison Evans (Calgary), who cleared 3.20m.

Rachel Shuttleworth (Surrey, B.C.), who will start her second year with TWU this
fall, finished 20th in the 400m with a time of 59.20.

On the men’s side, Spartan-to-be Caleb Dejong was 15th overall in the 3000m
steeplechase with a time of 10:05.96.
