Highlanders’ reserves face important weekend in PCSL

VICTORIA – With their Pacific Coast Soccer League seasons winding down, the Victoria Highlanders men’s reserves and the Peninsula Co-op Highlanders women’s reserves will be looking to gain valuable points this weekend as they challenge for a playoff spot. The women’s reserves will look for their fourth straight victory and a chance to claim top spot in their table.

Meanwhile, the men’s reserves will be looking to get back in the win column after settling for a hard-fought 0-0 draw in their last game.

WOMEN’S RESERVES LOOK TO SECURE TOP SPOT IN TABLE

The women’s reserve team is coming off a 3-0 victory over West Vancouver FC on Sunday, July 6. Natalie Cavallin, Ashley Volk, and Kiara Kilbey provided the offence for the Highlanders as they cruised to their third straight victory.

Up next for the women is Fraser Valley Action on Sunday, July 13 at Trinity Western University. Kick-off his set for 3:00 p.m. This will be the second meeting of the season between these two teams with the previous meeting ending in a 2-1 Victoria win on Sunday, June 8. Fraser Valley Action is coming off a 5-3 loss to West Vancouver FC, and currently sits sixth in the table with a 2-7-1 record. The women will look to improve on their second place ranking in their table and their 7-1-2 record.

MEN’S RESERVES PREPARE FOR UNDEFEATED MID ISLE HIGHLANDERS

The men’s reserves are coming off a hard fought scoreless draw against Kelowna United on Sunday, July 6. The Highlanders’ offence is led by Jyotish Khanna and Hamish Walde, each with four goals on the season.

Up next for the men is Mid Isle Highlanders on Saturday, July 12 at Tyndall Park. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m. This will be the fourth meeting of the season between these clubs with the previous meeting ending in a 2-1 win for Mid Isle on Thursday, July 3. Mid Isle is coming off a 2-0 victory over Kelowna United, and currently sits atop the table with an 8-0-1 record. The men’s reserves will be looking to improve their 3-3-3 record as they chase a playoff spot.
