July 14,2014(ISN) - MONTREAL - Mia Doucet-Vallée of the Pointe-Claire Diving Club and Cedric Fofana of the Club Rouge et Or in Quebec City completed golden sweeps on Sunday at the 2014 Speedo Junior Development Nationals. In the girls 12-13 platform, Doucet-Vallée took her third gold of the competition totalling 312.70 points. Mélodie Leclerc of Montreal’s Club CAMO was second at 284.85 and Alyssa Clairmont of the Regina Diving Club third at 284.40. ‘’To win three gold medals is beyond my expectations,’’ said Doucet-Vallée, 13, who earned a single bronze at last year’s development nationals. ‘’The platform is the event I prefer the least but again my hard work in training paid off.’’ In the boys 11 and under one-metre, Fofana won a close battle for his third gold with 288.75 points. Nathan Zsombor-Murray of Pointe-Claire was second at 283.95 and Ben Smyth of Boardworks in Victoria third at 260.10. ‘’Everything went really well except for my fourth dive,’’ said Fofana, 10. ‘’I wasn’t too sure whether I could win this event. I thought Nathan was going to take it.’’ In the boys 12-13 platform, Jacob Zimmel of Edmonton Keyano won the gold at 335.95, Bryden Hattie of Victoria was second at 318.95 and Bjorn Markentin of the Saskatoon Diving Club third at 295.60. In the girls 11 and under three-metre, Simone Leathead of CAMO collected her second gold of the competition with 303.30 points.
