Swimming Canada is pleased to welcome Yves Lorange to its board of directors.

The Montreal resident brings more than 35 years of experience in consulting and management to the role. He will fill the previously vacant position immediately.

A Chartered Professional Accountant by trade, Lorange’s experience includes senior roles with Desjardins Securities Inc. He currently serves as Vice-president, Finance & Administration & Corporate Secretary of Tourisme Montreal.

“I am excited to welcome Yves to the board,” said Swimming Canada President David de Vlieger. “Strong leadership at all levels is a necessary part of our journey to being a world-leading organization. Yves will be a welcome addition to the Swimming Canada family.”

Lorange was appointed following a process overseen by the Swimming Canada Nominations Committee to fill the vacant seat created by the resignation of vice-president Sean Finn earlier in the year.

Finn, the executive vice-president, corporate services and Chief Legal Officer for CN had served on Swimming Canada’s board since 2008, and as vice-president since 2010. Finn’s accomplishments included chairing the Policy and Governance Committee, which led the transition of bringing Swimming Canada into compliance with the new Not-for-profit Corporations Act.

“We would very much like to thank Mr. Finn for his contributions and efforts over the years,” said Swimming Canada President David de Vlieger.
