July 22,2014(ISN) – The Portland Winterhawks have signed defenseman Brendan De Jong, a seventh round
pick in the 2013 Bantam Draft.

De Jong, a 6’4″, 180-pound defenseman, will join the Winterhawks this season as a
16-year-old. He played for the Pacific Sea Devils Elite 15 team this past season,
where he had four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 32 games. He also suited
up in five games for the Saanich Braves of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey

as the best place for him to continue his development,” said Portland Winterhawks
General Manager & Head Coach Jamie Kompon. “Brendan is a smooth-skating defenseman
with tremendous upside. His skating, hockey sense and ability to defend are what we

top flight player for the Winterhawks.”
