27 July, 2014 (ISN) Sultana Frizell qualified for the final of the women’s hammer thrown in style at Hampden stadium with a throw of 68.92 metres, setting a Games Record in the process.

The 29 year old was a favourite going into the qualifying event based on her performances at Delhi in 2010, the 2011 PanAmerican Games and the world challenge event in 2014 in Morocco.

She is expected to be pushed hard by Wales’ Carys Parry and Sophie Hitchon of England, as Hitchon said, “Qualifying can sometimes be the hardest thing.”  With that mind-set Frizell may well have a fight on her hands tomorrow.
