Vakaafi Doesn’t Quit

July 27th, 2014

Marathon runner gets way behind pack, but keeps going.

Special mention has to be given to Tongia Vakaafi of Tonga. In spite of being twenty minutes behind the next competitor, and being overtaken by the two front-running women, he shows heart and determination and didn’t stop until he crossed the finish line.

Vakaafi finished in 2:58.57. The next man ahead finished in 2:33.37. Normally a runner, when faced with such a massive gap, would pull up and call it quits. Not Vakaafi, he kept going and was cheered on by the gathered crowds in Glasgow.
