28 July, 2014 (ISN) Canada Rugby Sevens squad aren’t leaving Glasgow empty handed after winning the men’s Rugby Sevens Bowl Final at Ibrox. The popular Rugby Sevens event was won overall by South Africa and after Canada’s loss to Scotland on Saturday, Team Canada were faced off against Trinidad & Tobago, Uganda and the Cook Islands in their Sunday matches.
Canada kept Trinidad & Tobago and Uganda under control with two shutouts, although they did drop 7 points against the Cook Islands. A dominant display against the Cook Islands racked up a total of 8 tries and 5 conversions. Sean Thomas White claimed a hat-trick of scores to take his personal tally on the day up to five while Douglas (2), Moonlight, Sean Duke and Harry Jones also crossed the line in a powerful display by the Canadians.
Ending the weekend on a positive must be healthy for team morale, especially after the difficulties encountered in the run up to the competition.
