29 July, 2014 (ISN) Ryan Cochrane has made the final of the 1500m men’s freestyle, the final will be 20:23 GMT on the 29th July. After qualifying Cochrane set out his ambition for the final: “I would be really happy to get close to the Commonwealth record”, he stated. Obviously feeling confident, Cochrane will be one to watch tomorrow.
Jim Steacy is looking to hammer out a gold in the men’s hammer throw final tomorrow at 20:50 GMT after qualifying behind Scotland’s Mark Dry and is expecting a close contest with England’s Alex Smith.
Sultana Frizell, who broke the Games Record yesterday in her qualifying heat with a throw of 75.73m, won gold in the women’s hammer throw with a throw of 71.97m.
Pascal Plamondon won bronze in the men’s weighlifting 85kg category and Audrey Lacroix won gold in the women’s 200m butterfly at Tollcross.

Darryl Conrad has slim hopes of making it to medal position, saying he “might be good enough for top seven, but not much of a chance of a medal.” Finishing first in group B obviously please Darryl, as he said himself, “I have only had two weeks to prepare, so all things considered, I was very pleased.”
On Glasgow he said, “The crowd were amazing. Everything in Glasgow has just been great – from the athletes’ village to the venue itself.”
