With games starting Thursday, July 31 and continuing through the championship match-up Sunday at 1 p.m., the top eight teams in the province will compete for the B.C. title.
“This year’s Victoria Eagles Selects are ready to compete for the prestigious award. The Selects have worked hard toward this goal and many sacrifices have been made to be at this tournament,” says Selects manager Marty Hall.
The teams recently completed a 36-game, four-month season that travelled between Victoria, the Lower Mainland, Kamloops and the Okanagan. The Eagles Selects squad, Victoria’s entry in the competitive Midget AAA (18U) league, is one of five high-performance teams administered by the Greater Victoria Baseball Association.
Games get under way at Lambrick Park Thursday at 9 a.m. with Cloverdale squaring off against Kamloops. The opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m. followed by Victoria’s first game of the tournament at 7 p.m. versus Tri-City.
Victoria’s round-robin games continue Friday at 6 p.m. versus Chilliwack and Saturday at 12 p.m. versus Ridge Meadows.
Victoria sports fans are encouraged to come cheer on the home team in what promises to be a thrilling weekend at the diamond.
