In the dying hours of the XX Commonwealth games in Glasgow, Canada managed to add another gold to their tally.
In the Women’s badminton finals, Michelle Li faced Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour, both athletes having made it through to the final without dropping a single game.
Gilmour had plenty of heart but she was just not up to the cool-headed Michelle Li, who took the match 2 games to 0.
This marks the first even gold medal for Canada in the women’s singles event, and the consolation for Kirsty is that her silver is also the first for her nation in the event.
With only the road cycle race left to go for team Canada, this gold helps them finish on a high note.
