The pieces of the 2014-2015 Princeton Posse continue to come together with the acquisition of 20 year old forward Colton St. John from the Creston Valley Thunder Cats. In St. John the Posse get a speedy forward who created offense at an average of 0.8 points per game, plays a strong game at both ends of the ice and provides experience and leadership to a team that graduated five players last season.

In 23 games, Colton St. John compiled 3 goals and an impressive 20 assists for 23 points. St. John hails from Anchorage, Alaska and prior to the KIJHL played for Las Vegas Storm U18 of the Mid West Elite Hockey League (2012-13), and Phoenix Firebirds U18 of the North American Prospects Hockey League (2011-12), the same league that Pursuit of excellence’s top midget team plays in.

The trade sends forward Dalton Dubetz and defenseman Trevor Beaton to the Thunder Cats. Both players are 19 years old and came to the Posse last season. General Manager / Head Coach Bill Rotheisler recapped “Dalton and Trevor did great things for our organization and we wish them the best moving forward. I sincerely thank both players; Dalton for joining us from Alberta and Beaton who made the move from another KIJHL team, for giving our organization a chance to be a part of their development”.

On Colton St. John, Rotheisler commented “The skillset, ability and leadership we acquired in St. John is something we could not pass up. We watched allot of video on players and in the end we were impressed with Colton’s play. His points were not a result of luck, but a product of his playmaking abilities and all-around play. He just simply knows how to play hockey”.

Colton St. John expressed in a statement, “I am really excited to wear a Princeton Posse jersey this year. I have high expectations for this season and can’t wait to get things rolling to finish off my last junior season with a great organization such as Princeton”.

St. John, who is spending his off-season at home in Alaska, will be joining the Posse at main camp starting August 26, 2014 and will be able to catch him in action then.
