Canada W15 prepares for Quarterfinal clash against Costa Rica

Eight teams remain in the CONCACAF Girls’ Under-15 Championship.

Canada has advanced to the knockout rounds as winner of Group D. With a record of two wins (5:0 over Puerto Rico and 6:0 against Cuba) and one draw (1:1 against Haiti).
Now that Canada is in the quarterfinals there are new challenges for the Team.

Starting with a change of venue. Up until now Canada has been playing on the Island of Cayman Brac, but from now on all matches will be on the larger sister Island of Grand Cayman.
Game times will also be earlier. The players got their first taste of the heat at yesterday’s practice and it’s something that they’ll have to work through, as they prepare for today’s match against Costa Rica.
Research on the Central Americans indicates they will be a technically proficient and organised team, so they will be a good challenge for the young Canadian side.
“It will be a good match,” says Canada’s Head Coach Bev Priestman. “The quarterfinal stage is where the real growth happens; there are no more easy matches. Our players have to keep high-standards, because, at this stage in their careers, every game is a learning experience.”
Canada will face Costa Rica at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex on 13 Aug 2014. Kick-off is at 17.30 (local) | 18.30 ET | 15.30 PT.
The match can be followed live via Canada Soccer’s via twitter @CanadaSoccerEN (for English) AND @CanadaSoccerFR (for French).
