Cougars Acquire Defenceman Dominic Thom From Brandon

Aug 14,2014(ISN) – Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Cougars have acquired 1996-born defenceman
Dominic Thom (Calgary, AB) from the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for a
conditional sixth round pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.

Originally selected in the ninth round (187^th overall) by the Wheat Kings in the
2011 Bantam Draft, Thom (6’3″, 190 pounds) recorded one assist and was a +3 in two
games with the Wheat Kings last season. Thom spent the rest of the season with the
Calgary Mustangs of the AJHL, and scored one goal, five assists and added 61 penalty
minutes in 29 games.

“Dominic brings an element of size and compete to our back-end,” said Prince George
Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins, “His presence in training camp will provide
added competition for our 2014-2015 roster.”

Harkins adds, “He’s mobile for a big defenceman, can move the puck and takes pride
in blocking shots to defend his net.”
