2014 Training Camp begins Thursday, August 21

Aug 18,2014(ISN) – The UBC Thunderbirds football team will kickoff the 2014 season on Thursday, August
21 when training camp officially opens at David Sidoo Field at Thunderbird Stadium.

This season marks the 50th anniversary of the Vanier Cup which will be played
November 29 in Montreal.

Coming off a 4-4 regular season and a first round playoff loss to Vanier Cup
runner-up Calgary in 2013, the Thunderbirds are hoping for bigger and better things
in 2014. This season marks for the fifth under the guidance of head coach Shawn
Olson.

Training camp will begin with testing on August 21st and then the players will hit
the field for the first time on Friday August 22nd. After five days of practice they
will play in the annual Blue and Gold Scrimmage on Thursday, August 28th at 5:30 pm
at David Sidoo Field at Thunderbird Stadium. All fans are encouraged to come and
check out the annual intra-squad game to get your first look at this year’s squad.

UBC will open the 2014 Canada West regular season on the road Friday, September 5th
in Regina against the Rams.
