2014 regular season kicks off Monday


The start of the 2014 CIS football regular seasonis only four days away. A grand total of 124 games will be playedacross the country over the next three months, culminating with the50th TELUS Vanier Cup on November 29 at PercivalMolson Memorial Stadium in Montreal.

League play gets under way on Monday with fivecontests in the OUA conference.

The action kicks off the followingweekend in the AUS, RSEQ and Canada West.

A number of pre-season matches have already beenplayed over the past week and more are scheduled this weekend,including a rematch of last year’s national final between theCalgary Dinos and the reigning champion Laval Rouge et Or, Saturdayafternoon in Quebec City.

Leading up to the 50th TELUSVanier Cup on Nov. 29, this year’s CIS semifinals –both set for Nov. 22 – will see the Canada West champions visit theRSEQ titlists (Uteck Bowl) and the AUS champs travel to Ontario totake on the winners of the OUA banner (ArcelorMittal MitchellBowl).

Once again this year, members of FootballReporters of Canada will vote for the weekly national Top 10ranking, which will be released every Tuesday starting on Sept. 2.The CIS football players of the week – also selected by apanel of FRC members – will be announced each Wednesday, startingon Sept. 3.
