Aug 25,2014(ISN) – NANJING, China – Molly Carlson of Thunder Bay, Ont., made a nice comeback from rough
performance on 10-metre last week to place eighth on three-metre springboard on
Monday in diving action at the Youth Olympic Games.

Shengping Wu of China won the gold medal with 492.05 points, Ganna Krashoshlyk of
Ukraine was second at 459.10 and Zhiayi Loh of Malaysia third at 446.70.

Carlson improved her score by more than 30 points in the final from her 11th place
in the preliminaries, to take eighth spot at 388.00.

”It was good to come back and show everyone I could dive again,” said Carlson, 15,
the Pan Am junior champion in the event last year. ”The three-metre is certainly a
much stronger event for me and I was feeling more confident. But I felt some
pressure to come back and do better.”

Diving competition continues Tuesday with the men’s 10-metre tower. Philippe Gagné
of Montreal vies for a second medal. He was third on three-metre on Sunday.
