Aug. 26, 2014: Volleyball Canada today announced that InterContinental® Hotels Group (IHG) is now its official hotel supplier.
“We are very excited to be partnering with IHG,” said Mark Eckert, Volleyball Canada Executive Director. “Volleyball Canada runs major events for both indoor and beach volleyball all across the country, bringing thousands of athletes and their families together.
Having an integrated hotel partner will benefit competitors as well as event organizers of all types of volleyball tournaments in Canada.”
For example, the 2015 Volleyball Canada Championship in Calgary next May is expected to attract 10,000 athletes and 12,000 spectators, which translates into an excess of 18,000 room nights for area hotels.
Volleyball Canada’s 64,000 members and families will have access to IHG’s best flexible hotel rates at a 10-percent discount across Canada at participating hotels. For bookings of ten rooms or more, Volleyball Canada and its clubs and provincial associations, will go through an RFP process to secure the rooms they need at the best rates and location possible. IHG’s brands include InterContinental, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites and they have more than 168 properties across Canada.
