(ISN) – September 2nd 2014 – MERRITT BC – The Merritt Centennials took the back half of the home and home with the West Kelowna Warriors in big fashion, dishing out a 7-2 win at Nicola Valley Memorial Arena.
The Warriors, who iced a much younger squad than the Cents, had their opportunities early, and scored the 1st periods lone goal, as Josh Bly would finish off a lovely 3-way passing play from Hunter Zandee and Dan Eruzione at 11:22.
The Cents would tie it up early in the 2nd frame, as just 1:51 in Colin Grannary would pick up the puck off a bad turnover and snap it back Warriors starter Scott Patton.
West Kelowna would take a 2-1 lead at 10:11, as Bly had a shot from Jonathon Desbiens go off his pants and into the goal for his 2nd of the night.
Merritt would take over from there, scoring twice on Matt Mitchell in the latter half of period 2 on goals from Adam Tracey and Matt Foley.
The Centennials scored a powerplay marker at 3:52 as John Schiavo went top shelf. Scott Munro, Malik Kaila, and Nick McCabe picked up the final three tallies.
The Warriors struggled to put pucks on goal in second half of the game, as they would be credited with 6 shots from the 10:11 mark of the 2nd until the end. Three of those shots were given off of dump ins or rolling pucks towards the goal.
