PROFILE

A two-time AUS all-star, Saint Mary’s linebacker Jonathan Langais hoping to end the 2014 season on a better note than 2013.

The Huskies finished in first place last year and earned a byeinto the Subway AUS Loney Bowl, where they lost 20-17 at home tothe visiting Mount Allison Mounties.

“Coming so close last year only to lose in the last minute washeartbreaking,” says Langa, a co-captain with the Huskies.

Langa, a native of Etobicoke, Ont., is looking forward to astrong season from the SMU defence.

“We’ve got a great group returning players and some young,hungry guys looking to make an impact so we’re expecting to have astrong year.”

Langa finished the 2013 campaign with 43.5 tackles, including ateam-leading 38 solo tackles. He also added a sack, a fumblerecovery and was credited with breaking up two passes.

At this year’s CIS East-West Bowl game hosted by WesternUniversity, Jonathan turned heads with a 28-yard interceptionreturn that led to an eventual field goal for the East squad.

The Huskies open their season at home on Friday, September 5that 7:00pm where they will host the StFX X-Men.
