Sept 5, 2014 (INS) – Vikes Golfers head south to open 2014 season
Sept. 8-9: Men’s and Women’s Golf at Wolf Pack Invitational (Pueblo, Col.)

VICTORIA, B.C.- The University of Victoria Vikes men’s and women’s golf
teams will be competing in their first tournament of the 2014-15 season
from Sept. 8-9, as they head to Pueblo, Col., for the the Wolfpack
Invitational. The tournament is co-hosted by California State
University-Pueblo and Wayland Baptist University.
The men’s roster features returnees Alex Cartwright, Sean Hay, Bruce Tomie
and first-years, Lawren Rowe and Andrew Funk. Rounding out the women’s
roster are Michaela Abey, Cari Chow, Laura Ferreira, Shannon Raina and new
addition Brianna Carrels.
Third-year Sean Hay won the individual title at the Canada West
championship last year, while Bruce Tomie finished first at the Vikes
Shootout in his rookie season. On the women’s side, Cari Chow opened up
her season last year with a seond-place finish at the Cavalier
Invitational, which the Vikes women won.
The men will play 36 holes on the first day and 18 holes on the second at
the Walking Stick Golf Course, while the women will play 18 holes both
days at the Pueblo Country Club.
Last year, the men’s team won the Canada West title, finished seventh in
the A.I.I. conference championships and placed fourth in the Canadian
University/College Championship. The women placed second in the A.I.I.
championships, which qualified them for the NAIA national championships.
The Vikes women finished the NAIA tournament in 16th place and finished
their final competition of the season, the Canadian University/College
championships, in third-place.
