Sept 10, 2014 (ISN) – Six Nations 12 – Victoria Shamrocks 6.
The shamrocks coming off a 2nd straight overtime win in game 3 knew that they were going to face a faster tougher Six Nations Chiefs in game 4 and that is exactly what they got. Right off the opening faceoff Stephen Keough scored at 19 seconds, which set the tone for game 4. Keough dominated for Six Nations with 2 goals and 2 assists. He was great at protecting the ball even with 2 shamrocks on him.
Jamieson had another big night with 4 goals and 1 assist. Miller stoned Small and Wardle and Duch several times. The shamrocks were frustrated and unable to get on a run. Tyler Hass was harassed throughout the game and the Shamrocks simply could not get either of their special teams going. Two key Shamrock players were hurt in game 4 defenceman Tyler Burton and goalie Matt Flindell. Let’s hope they are back in for game 5.
The only players who impressed me tonight for the Rocks were defenceman Greg Harnett and forward Chris Wardle who had many chances and keeps providing good energy on the floor. For the Rocks to win the next game they must be better on face offs. If you have your defence on the floor all night you are not going to win many games. They were outhustled for loose balls in game 4 .Six Nations dominated in that department. I have no doubt that the Shamrocks outstanding coaching staff of Bob Heyes, Art Webster, Dave Lowden and Jordan Sundher will have the team focused and ready to go for game 5. The game last night is now forgotten and the team is ready to win game 5. I predict a bounce back with a game 5 win for the Shamrocks. The defence will tighten up and the Shamrocks will prevail in game 5 with a 9-5 score! The 2014 Victoria Shamrocks are in it to win it! Those boys can’t even say the word quit!
