Vikes rookie propels golf team to second place finish

Sept 9,2014(ISN) – VICTORIA, BC – The Vikes clinched a second place finish at the Wolf Pack Invitational in Pueblo, Col, lead by first year Lawren Rowe, who earned a third place individual finish, shooting an impressive eight under par for the tournament.


Lawren faltered slightly in the final round, shooting a 71, behind leaders Ryan Connolly of Wayland Baptist and Zach Kirby of Dodge City. Andrew Funk, another Vikes first year, tied for twelfth, finishing even after the three-round competition.

Wayland Baptist swept the first place finishes for the team and individual categories. They were 18 under for the tournament, Connolly shooting an impressive 12 under.

The tournament marked the first competition for the team’s 2014-15 season.

Third year Vike Alex Cartwright held onto a top 20 finish, shooting three over to tie for eighteenth.

The Vikes head to Lacey, WA on Sept.19 for the Saint Martin’s Invitational.
