Goalkeeper Reassigned To AAA Midget


Sept 13, 2014 (ISN) – Brandon, MB. — The Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that 16-year old
goalkeeper Josh Dechaine has been reassigned to the St. Albert AAA


That announcement made Saturday morning by coach and
general manager Kelly McCrimmon as the Western Hockey League club
prepares for Sunday’s pre-season game against the Warriors in Moose Jaw.

6′ 170 lb St. Albert product, Dechaine appeared in two pre-season games
for the Wheat Kings, compiling a 4.04 goals against average and turning
aside 20 of 24 shots.

In seventeen games for St. Albert in 2013-14, Dechaine posted an impressive 2.40
goals against average and one shutout.

move leaves the Wheat Kings with two goalkeepers on their pre-season
roster – 17-year old rookie Logan Thompson of Calgary and veteran Jordan
Papirny of Edmonton. Brandon’s Rookie of the Year in 2013-14, Papirny
is currently skating at Montreal’s National Hockey League Training Camp.

is one of six Wheat Kings attending NHL Camps. That list includes New
Jersey Devils’ first round draft choice John Quenneville, who left early
this morning. Others away this weekend are John’s older brother Peter
(Columbus), Eric Roy (Calgary), Richard Nejezchleb (New York Rangers)
and Jayce Hawryluk (Florida).

Winners of two of three pre-season
games, Brandon plays in Moose Jaw Sunday afternoon before bringing the
curtain up on the 2014-15 regular season Friday night against the
visiting Regina Pats.
