Victoria Cougars doubled up on the host Peninsula Panthers 4-2

Sept 13,2014(ISN) – NORTH SAANICH, B.C. – Michael Fretz found the back of the net three times as the Victoria Cougars doubled up on the host Peninsula Panthers 4-2 on Friday night.

Victoria now improves to 3-0-0-0 on the season.

Wade Johnson also scored for the Cougars while goaltender Anthony Ciurro made 27 saves for the win. With three assists was Ryan Carson.

Replying for Peninsula, who dropped to 0-2-0-0 on the season, were Jordan Law and Ben Meyerink.

William Harvey stopped 21 shots in defeat.

Victoria went 1-for-7 on the power play; meanwhile, the Panthers went 1-for-5.

In other action around the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League: Westshore Wolves 6, Saanich Braves 2. Comox Valley Glacier Kings 6, Oceanside Generals 1. Campbell River Storm 3, Nanaimo Buccaneers 2.

Next game for the Cougars is Saturday, September 13 against the Campbell River Storm. Game time at the Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex, located at 225 South Dogwood Street, is 7:30 p.m.
