Sept 14.2014(ISN) – CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – The Campbell River Storm remained the only undefeated team in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League following its 8-3 win over the Victoria Cougars on Saturday night.

Colin Blake and Kobe Oishi scored twice for Campbell River (4-0-0-0) while Gage Colpron, Michael Olson, Devyn Grant, and Grady McInnes each added singles.

Replying for the Cougars (3-1-0-0), who trailed 2-1 after one period and 5-3 after two, were John Kretzschmar, Mitch Moloney, and Marino Somerville.

Joey Karrer made 13 saves for the victory.

Taking the loss was Anthony Ciurro who was replaced after allowing five goals on 18 shots. Grant Payne allowed three goals on 11 shots in relief.

Victoria went 1-for-4 with the man advantage; meanwhile, the Storm went 2-for-5.

In other action around the VIJHL: Kerry Park Islanders 6, Peninsula Panthers 2. Oceanside Generals 4, Westshore Wolves 3. Nanaimo Buccaneers 2, Comox Valley Glacier Kings 1.

Next game for the Cougars is Thursday, September 18 against the Comox Valley Glacier Kings. Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.
