“We are very excited to play at the World Championship,” said Canada’s women’s team head coach, Arnd Ludwig. “I had to make some tough decisions when choosing the roster of 14 players, as all our athletes have worked very hard in training.

My hope is that our practice and playing in Grand Prix this summer will pay off for us during this important tournament.”

A total of 24 teams will compete for the title following continental qualifications, which saw a record 141 teams take part. The host country is automatically qualified for the quadrennial event, which leaves 23 vacancies open for other countries.

“We will enjoy every single match against these top teams and we want to play each on our best level,” said Ludwig, who is in Slovenia with his team for pre-Worlds training.

Canada, currently ranked 21st in the world, is in Pool B and its opening match will be against Cameroon on Sept. 23. in Trieste. More information can be found at (web cast information is yet to be confirmed.)
