Canadiens Gothic – Award Winning Homage to Grant Wood & Habs Fans

The portrait that launched a National art project about the People of Canada was selected by the people. In August this year, three of my paintings about Canada, and the sport of hockey, were included in an exhibition just outside Edmonton, Alberta. The exhibition which featured art and artifacts of sport history in the show, Art: Objet De Sport at Strathcona Gallery @501, held the delegates and sponsors gala for the 2014 Canada 55+ Games.

Last week I received notice from the gallery that my piece, Canadiens Gothic, was selected for a People’s Choice Award. Thank you Penny & Reg for sending me the reference photo for this piece and for allowing me to paint your personalities on canvas. And thank you Grant Wood, for painting American Gothic.
