Sept 22,2014(ISN) – In the first week of Varsity AAA conference play, the Mount Douglas Rams faced off against a fired up Notre Dame team, and reverted to a high powered passing attack en route to a 36 to 7 victory.

Quarterback Joe Clarke had a stellar game completing 15 of 25 passes for 378 yards and 4 touchdown strikes. His favourite target was the ever dangerous Gavin Cobb who hauled 9 receptions for 208 yards and 2 majors. Ross Faulkner had 3 catches for 68 yards and 1 touchdown. Ollie MacKenzie had the other touchdown through the air with a 54 yard catch and run. As a team, the Rams ran for 195 yards and were led by Seye Farinu who had 15 carries for 101 yards and 1 major. Pato Vega powered his way for 58 hard fought yards on 6 carries.

On the defensive side of the ball, the stingy Rams defense was led by Seye Farinu who registered 9 tackles . Byron MacKinnon had 5 tackles plus 1 sack. Jonah Merino played another very strong and chipped in with 5 tackles followed by Morgan Pearse, Declann Michelin, Pato Vega, Jon Grohovac, Alex Carter-Johnson and Trystin Waters with 4 tackles each. Ollie MacKenzie was outstanding in the defensive backfield and was responsible for knocking down several Notre Dame passes.

This Thursday September 25th, the JV Rams square off against Vancouver College at 2:30 pm at Mount Douglas. The Varsity team battles Van College, in what is arguably the biggest regular season High School Football Game ever played in Victoria. The Irish will bring their 65 player roster to Goudy Field this Friday September 26th with kickoff at 2:30 pm. We are asking for all Ram Supporters to wear BLACK for this game, as this is a BLACKOUT FRIDAY in support the Varsity Rams!
