VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds women’s hockey team continued preseason play by going 2-1 at the University of Calgary tournament over the weekend.
UBC scored a 4-3 victory over the hosts on Friday afternoon, in a rematch of last year’s Canada West quarter-final playoff series, which the Thunderbirds won in two games.
On Saturday, the T-Birds dropped a 4-2 decision to the Calgary Inferno, a team that plays in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League, one of the two major women’s leagues in Canada.

The squad finished the tournament with a 5-1 win over the University of Guelph Gryphons on Sunday morning.

UBC will host its final two preseason games against the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association this weekend. Friday’s game will played at 7:30 p.m. at Protrans Arena while Saturday’s matchup is part of a UBC hockey doubleheader at Father David Bauer Arena. The UBC-NAIT women’s game will start at 4:15 p.m., to be followed by the UBC-Alberta men’s game.
