MONTREAL – Clovis Fowo , a soccer player from McGill University has been named as both the RSEQ and CIS male athlete of the week, sponsored by ArcelorMittal Dofasco, for the period ending Sept. 21, 2014.
The female athlete of the week in the RSEQ conference was soccer player Amélie Poulin of UQTR, while Alex Rodkin, a soccer player from Ryerson University was named at the CIS level.
The 6-foot-2, 174-pound midfielder from Paris, France, scored both goals in McGill’s 2-1 upset over the No.7-ranked Montreal Carabins, Sunday. It was Montreal’s first loss of the season and snapped McGill’s 0-5-2 winless streak against the Carabins, It also marked McGill’s first ever regular-season victory in 14 lifetime attempts on Carabins territory. Fowo, a 19-year-old mechanical engineering sophomore, was making his first career start and did not even dress the previous game in a 4-2 loss at Laval last Friday. Prior to enrolling at McGill in 2013, he attended Lycee Charlemagne in France.
it marks the second consecutive week that a McGill athlete was selected for the RSEQ conference weekly award. Alexandra Tinfow from the soccer Martlets was named last week.
