SPARTANS TAKE ALL FOUR SETS FROM UBCO IN EXHIBITION

RICHMOND, British Columbia – The Trinity Western men’s volleyball team earned all four sets, winning 25-18, 26-24, 25-18, 25-23, in an exhibition match against UBC Okanagan Friday at the Richmond Oval.

The Spartans improved to 5-1 in preseason action in with the win in a match that was something of a wrap up contest, featuring a variety of festivities, following the team’s trip to China last week.

“It was a pretty good match with a big and physical opponent,” said Spartans coach Ben Josephson. “They presented a tough block to deal with but I thought our guys adapted well. Scotty (Plocktis, Kelowna, B.C.) had a really good night setting against his hometown team.
“It was awesome to wrap up our China trip with a really good performance.”

The Spartans will play a rematch with UBCO Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre in what will be their final game of the preseason.

TWU opens its Canada West schedule Oct. 10-11 when it hosts Thompson Rivers at the LEC.
