Landon Welykholowa claimed off waivers

General Manager and Head Coach Bob Woods announced today that the Saskatoon Blades have claimed centre Landon Welykholowa off waivers from the Calgary Hitmen.

Welykholowa, 18, split the 2013-14 season between the Hitmen, Victoria Royals and the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Calgary Canucks. In 34 Western Hockey League games last season (18 with Victoria, 16 with Calgary), the ’96-born Alberta product recorded one goal, five points and eight penalty minutes. In five post-season contests with the Hitmen, he recorded four goals, finishing second on the team in that category.

Welykholowa was originally drafted by the Prince Albert Raiders in the third round – 58th overall – in 2011.
