Two nights after playing well enough to win but settling for one point in a 2-1 shootout loss on opening night, the Dallas Stars (0-0-1) are on the road to take on the new-look Nashville Predators (1-0-0) on Saturday night. Game time 7:00 p.m. CDT. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
This is the first of five meetings between the Central Division clubs this season.
They will rematch on Nov. 6 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Jan. 8 in Nashville, April 4 in Nashville and April 11 (final day of the regular season) in Dallas.
On Thursday, the Stars outplayed Chicago for two periods but were unable to extend a 2-1 lead after the second intermission. Trevor Daley(power play) and Cody Eakin scored second-period goals for the Stars. Goaltender Kari Lehtonen turned back 24 of 26 shots during the game and one of two in the shootout.
The Predators, with new head coach Peter Laviolette behind the bench, feature numerous former Stars players in the lineup: James Neal, Mike Ribeiro, Eric Nystrom and Derek Roy. Nystrom scored the game-winning goal in the Preds’ 3-2 win on home ice against Ottawa on Thursday. Neal registered a game-high seven shots for Nashville.
