Pitter was opportunistic on a deflection off of a BU defender early in the first half. The ball bounced to Pitter on the top left of the box and he drilled one past the Butler goalkeeper to put the Bluejays up 1-0 in the 13th minute.
That lead would hold into halftime. CU kicked five corners in the first stanza while holding the Bulldogs to zero. The Jays shut out the Bulldogs in the first half to extend their opponents’ scoreless streak before the break to all 12 matches this season.
In the 62nd minute Pitter’s second goal of the match gave the Bluejays a 2-0 advantage. Sophomore Fabian Herbers passed the ball from the center of the box and Pitter drove toward the goal from the right side, putting it past the BU goalkeeper from a few yards out.
Butler’s Caleb Postlewait cut the CU lead to 2-1 in the 82nd minute. David Goldsmith fed Postlewait on the left side who angled a shot past CU keeper Connor Sparrow.
The Jays held on for their third consecutive and sixth overall one-goal victory of the season. Sparrow played all 90 minutes in net for Creighton and improved to 10-1-1 on the year.
