Oct. 15, 2014 – The opening round of the 2014 PING CCAA Golf National Championships began on Wednesday with warm conditions at the Club de Golf Lorette in Quebec City.
The competition is fiercer than ever, as the University of the Fraser Valley and Champlain St. Lawrence both look strong in both men’s and women’s play.
In the women’s individual standings, Océane Jacques (Champlain St. Lawrence) is leading the charge after a score of 76 (+3). She is trailed by Lorelle Weavers of Niagara College (77) and Carolyn Lee of UNC-Okanagan (78).
The men’s individual standings see Jarred Calbeck of Camosun College and Etienne Papineau of Champlain St. Lawrence tied for first place after rounds of 4-under 68. Two more golfers follow at 3-under par: Aaron Pauls of UFV and Adam Poulin of Champlain St. Lawrence.
In team competition, on the women’s side, Champlain St. Lawrence (RSEQ) is leading the way with a combined score of 155 (+9). The defending champions from UFV (PACWEST) are in second place with a 159 (+13), while UBC-Okanagan (PACWEST) sit in third with a score of 161 (+15)
On the men’s side, UFV and Camosun (PACWEST) are tied at 289 (+1). Hosts Champlain St. Lawrence (RSEQ) are tied in third place with Holland College (ACAA)
