(ISN) – Red Deer, AB- The Victoria Royals scored five goals in the third period and overtime en route to a 6-5 overtime victory over the Red Deer Rebels at the ENMAX Centrium.
Tyler Soy scored the winner in extra time, but it was the four third period goals that solidified the comeback for the Royals. Brandon Fushimi, Austin Carroll, Matthew Campese, Jack Walker and Axel Blomqvist had the other markers for Victoria. The Rebels opened the game with four consecutive first period goals from Adam Musil, Scott Feser, Wyatt Johnson and Grayson Pawlenchuk.
Coleman Vollrath got the start in net and stopped seven shots, while Evan Smith turned away 17 of 19 shots for the Royals. Rebels’ netminder Rylan Toth made 28 saves on 34 shots.
Victoria went 2/5=40.0% on the power play while Red Deer went 1/5=20.0%.
The Royals wrap up their road trip on Friday, October 17th vs. the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Saturday October 18th against the Kootenay Ice. Puck drop for both games are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).
Victoria will then return home for a pair of games vs. the Vancouver Giants on Friday October 24th and Saturday October 25th. Friday’s contest marks the unveiling of the Royals third jersey, while Saturday’s game is the annual Pink in the Rink Night at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
