(ISN) – The 2014 Nanaimo BMX season has came to an end on this past Thanksgiving Weekend with over 70
local riders making their way over to Chilliwack, BC, to compete in the BMX Canada Canadian Grands.
The season has seen the local Nanaimo track attract a high number of new riders and family’s. Nanaimo
BMX is a non-profit organization that runs 100% on volunteers. Our riders range in age from 2 years old
up to 60. You are never too young or too old to start BMX. This year’s Executive Board started the year
off with specific goals in mind which included; superior customer service, retain riders and create a fun
family atmosphere. Nanaimo BMX is ranked the number 1 track in Canada (by BMX Canada) and in the
top 10 for all North American tracks (USA BMX / BMX Canada). Come and check out our track at 2300
Labieux Rd (The best kept secret in Nanaimo!).

Some specific keys to our success lie in the attitude around the track. All of our members come to the
track with fun in mind and being there to help out anyone that needs it. Our older Expert riders have
taken on a mentorship role with the younger riders of the track. They have held monthly training clinics
for the younger less experienced riders. This is one of the only sports where you see athletes from ages
2-60 mingling, riding and having fun together.
The Canadian Grands were highlighted by Nanaimo’s own Hunter McGill capturing the title for #1
Cruiser Male in Canada. An incredible accomplishment! The rest of our riders are anxiously awaiting
the Canadian National Age Group (CNAG) rankings due out later this week.
