(ISN) – Medicine Hat, AB – Medicine Hat Tigers captured the 2014 Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce Southeast Alberta Shines Award formerly known as the Tourism Award of Distinction at last Friday evening’s 2014 Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce Business Awards gala.
This award (previously the Tourism Award of Distinction) recognizes a business, organization or group that has demonstrated outstanding achievement in putting Medicine Hat and/or Southeast Alberta ‘on the map’ as a great place to live, work and/or visit. The recipient will have demonstrated innovation, commitment, and leadership resulting in the success of a local product, program, service, event or attraction that increases quality of life for residents or attracts visitors to the area. Held in conjunction with National Small Business Week which runs annually during the third week in October, the annual business awards provide an opportunity for Medicine Hat and Southeast Alberta to recognize outstanding business achievements.
The awards ceremony was well attended with over 600 business minded people in attendance at the Cypress Centre located on the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede grounds.
“It was a real honor to accept this award on behalf of our entire organization,” stated Tigers’ senior director, marketing and public relations Dave Andjelic. “I would like to thank the Medicine Hat Accommodation Association and Tourism Medicine Hat for sponsoring the award. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners of this year’s awards. We also thank the Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce for putting on another terrific and successful event.”
“A huge thank you goes out to all the fans that buy tickets to our games and the businesses that support our team through various advertising and sponsorship packages. Without their support this award would not be possible,” stated Andjelic
“I personally would like to extend a special thank you to our ownership group, all of our employees, players and game staff who work so very hard to bring Tigers Hockey to the fans of Medicine Hat and southeastern Alberta. We are all extremely appreciative for the recognition we received through this award.”
