CCBA CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS (Day 1)

Day 1 of the 2014 CCBA Championship rained out

MONTREAL — Weather conditions in Montreal have forced cancellation of Day 1 at the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Association championship. Rain showers and 7-degree temperatures have tentatively moved the start of the six-team tournament from Thursday to Friday, weather permitting. A revised schedule is posted below.

The tournament was originally scheduled to feature 12 games over a four-day span, with the semifinals and sudden-death final set for Sunday, Oct. 26. The same number of games will now be played over three days.

McGill (14-6), which qualified as host team, is grouped in a Pool A with Northern Division champion Concordia (11-9) and Atlantic Division champions Holland College (16-2) of Charlottetown, P.E.I. All three will play round-robin crossover games with Pool B teams, namely UNB Varsity Reds (15-3; Atlantic finalists), Saint Mary’s Huskies (8-10; Atlantic semifinalists) and the Universite de Montreal (12-8; Northern semifinalists).

Tickets will be available at the door. Day passes are $5 and a tournament pass is available for only $10. Children 12-and-under get in for free.

Results of all games will be sent via the Redmen baseball twitter account (@mcgillbaseball), as well as the team’s Facebook page and will be listed on the McGill Athletics website
