Capitals and Rivermen Complete Trade
(ISN) – Duncan, BC – The Cowichan Capitals have completed a four-player trade with the Rivermen sending 17 year-old forward Colton Kehler and 19 year-old defenceman Charlie Pelnik to Langley in exchange for a pair of forwards in 17 year-old Darien Craighead and 20 year-old Brendan Gulka.
In 51 total games with the Rivermen, the 5’11” 160 pound Craighead has 24 points and 25 penalty minutes and has excellent skill with the puck.
“Darien is a skilled forward who will fit very well into our lineup,” said Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Bob Beatty. “He’s a young player that will help us on offence for the long-term.”
Gulka is also in his second BCHL season and has had an excellent start to the year with four goals, two assists, and 11 penalty minutes in 11 games. At 6’1″ and 210 pounds, the Langley native has some tremendous size and grit but also possesses good offensive ability.
Kehler is coming off an excellent rookie season with 21 points in 43 games and now has 16 goals, seven assists and 52 penalty minutes in 52 career BCHL games.
Pelnik was traded to the Capitals from Langley back in August and returns to the Rivermen with a combined 14 points and 113 penalty minutes in 66 games.
The Capitals give a warm welcome to Darien and Brendan.
Also, a big thanks to Colton and Charlie for all they’ve done for Cowichan.
