Good Afternoon Rams and Supporters,

Firstly, I want to pass on to everyone that Carson is doing okay. Here is a note from Maureen Watson from Friday:

Hi Mark,

We just got home from the hospital and I wanted to let you know that Carson is home and doing okay. He has soft tissue damage in his neck and shoulders and we are to watch his headache. The Dr. was more concerned with his neck, than his head. He will be sore for a few days/a week, but is able to go back to practice when he can walk/run/work out without pain. I hope Katie and Stacey know how much we appreciated their attention to detail in their treatment of Carson. It was good that he was assessed and able to walk off the field, but also smart that he went to hospital to make sure that there was no serious damage to his neck. He will probably be at practice on Monday, but won’t be actively participating.

Congratulations on the win,

Maureen Watson

In the game itself, it was a battle of unbeaten Western Conference teams with the Rams squaring off against South Delta in a “spirited” affair. It was a suffocating Defensive effort by the Rams coupled with a stellar performance by the Offensive Line and Fullback Pato Vega that was the difference in a decisive 44 to 7 victory for Mount Douglas over South Delta, to clinch the Western Conference Championship for the Rams…and oh ya, there was Seye Farinu who only rushed 28 times for 218 yards for 4 touchdowns plus hauled in 3 receptions for 99 yards…317 all purpose yards in less than a full game. Seye, far and away, played his best game as a High School Football Player and was tenacious in breaking tackles and fighting for every yard possible. The defensive team’s effort against a high powered South Delta team was simply outstanding…Congratulations Rams!

Manny Lopez had the other rushing TD for the Rams, while Gavin Cobb hauled a 19 yard TD strike from Joe Clarke. On the day, the ever dangerous Gavin Cobb had 5 receptions, some of the spectacular variety, for 65 yards. Quarterback Joe Clarke was excellent completing 8 of 9 passes for 164 yards and the 1 touchdown. Michael Olson continued his strong play going 4 for 4 in convert kicks. On the defensive side of the ball, Declann Michielin led the way for the Rams with another stellar performance in registering 5 tackles, followed by a strong effort by Jonah Merino with 4 tackles and a host of other players with multi-tackle games. Manny Lopez had the only turnover in the contest, earning him the “Wolf of the Week” with an interception. The Rams Defensive Unit also got onto the score sheet with a huge Safety of the South Delta quarterback.
