Doubles shuffle: Pospisil wins Swiss Indoors with Zimonjic

Vasek Pospisil
This has been a remarkable year for Canadian tennis, and while the rise of Milos Raonic and Eugenie Bouchard in singles is well documented, Vasek Pospisil’s doubles dominance is becoming a regular occurrence./p>

The Canadian won his third doubles tournament this season at the Swiss Indoors over the weekend. His partner was Croatian Nenad Zimonjic. If that name sounds familiar to Canadian readers, that’s because Zimonjic was the partner of national legend Daniel Nestor until recently as the two have parted ways.

Good week in Basel. Great to get the doubles title with @nenadzim! Now off to Paris with the team. @fredfontang#lastevent#vivelafrance

Nestor and Zimonjic will still play together at the ATP World Tour Finals in London as they’ve qualified for the tournament that will pit the eight best teams against one another in the doubles competition.

Pospisil’s usual partner is American Jack Sock. The pair won two tournaments this season including a career highlight at Wimbledon. They’ve also reached a total of four finals this year.

By winning with Zimonjic, Pospisil shows he is a legitimate threat in doubles competition regardless of the partner. This week, the Canadian will team up again with Sock and the two will try to secure their place at the ATP Finals with a good showing at the Paris Masters.

It is expected that Pospisil and Sock will continue their partnership into 2015.

Nestor will be partnering with Rohan Bopanna of India next season.
